What is CRS?
To fight against global tax evasion, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) crafts CRS, an international information sharing standard for the Automatic Exchange of Information (AEoI), to resolve the legal divergence in various legal systems to target all information on residents’ assets and incomes. CRS ensures these financial information to be shared automatically and systematically among tax authorities of PJ.
What does CRS mean to you?
Financial institutes (FI) of PJ are obligated to determine the tax residency statue of their account holders and be required to provide their information relating to the accounts to tax authorities in the jurisdiction where the account is held, then the shared information is transferred to other PJ where the holder’s tax residency is deemed.
